A practice that
changed everything

After retiring from a career teaching art in Connecticut, I began taking a Svaroopa® Yoga class — simply to get back into Hatha Yoga, which I had practiced years before. Little did I know how profoundly it would change my life.

I had a profound change in those everyday aches and pains that life can throw at you — some of which had become serious. I found Svaroopa® Yoga to be healing and rejuvenating for both my body and my mind. The physical openings made me realize that even more had opened throughout my whole being.

This practice provided me with an inner transformation — a new way of seeing and moving through life. I knew I had to share this yoga with others.

I took my first class in November of 2011. Since then I have continued with my training and am a Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Teacher (CSYT) and a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, with over 500 hours of training (RYT 500).

As a lifelong learner, I continue with my Svaroopa® training and am also certified in a variety of Svaroopa® Yoga therapies. My husband Marc and I have relocated from Connecticut to Fort Collins, Colorado, where I teach Svaroopa® classes and offer private, one-on-one therapy sessions at my home studio.

Please feel free to email or call me to schedule an appointment or find out about current classes — I would love to hear from you.

Jiva
जीव — Enlivening & Vivifying

Sanskrit for "healthy, alive, living" — a name given by Swami Nirmalananda Saraswati

What's in
a name?

Jiva goes by her Sanskrit name — short for Jivani — which means enlivening and vivifying, and literally refers to what is healthy, alive, and living.

The name was given to her by her Guru, Swami Nirmalananda Saraswati, who resides at the Ashram in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. It reflects the core of what Svaroopa® yoga does — it enlivens the body, vivifies the mind, and awakens the living spirit within.

Whether you know her as Jane or as Jiva, you'll find in her a teacher who brings warmth, patience, and deep personal experience to every class.
