ABOUT JIVA

I go by my Sanskrit name of Jiva (short for Jivani), which means enlivening and vivifying and literally refers to healthy, alive or living. It was given to me by my Guru, Swami Nirmalananda Saraswati, who resides at the Ashram in Downingtown, PA.

After I retired from teaching art in Connecticut, I began taking a Svaroopa® Yoga class just to get back into Hatha Yoga, which I had taken years before. Little did I know how very much this style of yoga would do for me! I had a profound change in those every day aches and pains life can throw you, some of which can be serious. I found Svaroopa® Yoga to be healing and rejuvenating for both my body and mind. Experiencing the physical openings made me realize that even more had opened up throughout my whole being. This practice also provided me with an inner transformation to see life in a new way.  I knew I had to share this yoga with others!

I began training in this profoundly healing, science based, style of yoga. I took my first class in November of 2011. Since then I have continued with my training, and am a Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Teacher (CSYT),  and a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, having over 500 hours of training (RYT500).

As a life long learner, I continue with my Svaroop®a Yoga training. I am also certified in a variety of Svaroopa® Yoga therapies, which you can read about under the heading Therapy in the menu bar at the top of my website.

My husband, Marc, and I,  have recently relocated from Connecticut to Fort Collins, Colorado, where I continue to teach Svaroopa® classes, and offer private, one on one therapy sessions, at my home studio.

Please feel free to email or call me to schedule an appointment or find out about current classes.
